UV-9 belongs to the family of substituted benzophenone which protect against ultraviolet radiation. UV-9 has high absorption in UV-A region, hence has been widely used as UV filter in cosmetic industry. Its high solubility in various kinds of polymers makes it also useful for stabilizing plastics, such as PVC.
